5 SOLAS – SOLA GRATIA Ephesians 2:1-10

According to the authority of Scripture Alone we are saved by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in Christ Alone for the Glory of God Alone.

#1 THE BAD NEWS AND THE REALLY BAD NEWS v.1

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 (NIV)

“Wretched I therefore, who could deliver me from the body of this death; by thy grace only, through Jesus Christ our Lord?”Confessions 8:5 Augustine of Hippo

#2 LIVING AMONG THE DEAD vv. 2-3

And He passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet He does not leave the guilty unpunished; He punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6-7 (NIV)

#3 THE GOOD NEWS THAT BRINGS GREAT JOY vv. 4-7

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One Man, Jesus Christ! Romans 5:7 (NIV)

#4 SAVED FOR GOD’S GLORY AND PURPOSES vv. 8-10

This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. John 15:8 (NIV)
