Jesus: Man of Action – Refined by Fire Mark 1:9-13

#1 JESUS UNDERSTANDS WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH.

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT)

#2 JESUS WAS SET APART BY BAPTISM v. 9

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:18-19 (NIV)

#3 JESUS WAS MARKED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT v. 10

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. John14:16-17 (NIV)

# 4 JESUS WAS LOVED AND APPROVED BY THE FATHER v. 11

And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11 (NIV)

#5 JESUS WAS TEMPTED AND TESTED vv. 12-13

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James1:2-3 (NIV)
